CONTRACTS OF
SERVICE
If you have not
already done so you
must return a
completed copy of
your contract of
service to the
Registrar ASAP. A
copy of the contract
of service can be
found at page 37 of
your GAP Manual
(Appendix 1) and
is also included in
the Preceptor Manual
(Appendix 5).
Please mail your
completed contract
of service to the
Pharmacy Board at
GPO Box 792 Hobart
7001. Do not fax the
contract to the
Board as we must
receive original
signatures of both
the graduate and
preceptor.
Remember to keep a
copy of the contract
for your records.
GAP FEES
The Pharmacy Board
has set the GAP fees
for 2008 at $1950.
You will be sent an
invoice for this
amount in early
March and payment is
due by 30 June 2008.
Payment may be made
by cheque, money
order, cash or BPay.
Please note that
the Board can not
accept payment by credit card.
Your
GAP fees cover all
costs associated
with the
organisation and
presentation of the
pre-registration
year except for the
following:
1. Fees associated with
obtaining a First
Aid Certificate
level II.
2. Should you need to
re-sit either the APCAT or NFEC exams,
you will be required
to pay the
associated fee.
3. The fee for sitting
the Board exam at
the end of the GAP
year.
FEBRUARY
PRECEPTOR/GRADUATE WORKSHOP
The
second
Preceptor/Graduate
workshop focuses on
adult learning and
will be conducted by
Elizabeth Thomas.
Both tutors will
be in
attendance to assist
with the workshop
and will also be
available to talk
through any issues
or concerns you may
have.
To get the most from
this workshop, you
should come prepared
to contribute and
participate actively
in the group
sessions. Remember
attendance is
compulsory, so make
sure you have the
date marked in your
diary.
TUTOR VISITS
Tutor visits will
commence in March. Clinical
tutors Jane and
Cynthia are both
available through email and
phone (see side bar
for details) so
if you have an
urgent matter that
can't wait either
send an email or
leave a phone
message.
Please
make sure you put
GAP 2008 in the
subject line when
emailing.
ONLINE LEARNING
Throughout the GAP
year you will be
expected to complete
online learning
modules.
Pharmacy Self
Care
You are
expected to complete
nine Pharmacy Self
Care online learning modules during
the course of the
year.
If you are a PSA
member you can use
your login and
password to access
the current online
learning module.
If you are not a PSA
member you will be
provided with a login
and password when
you attend the
February workshop.
To log in go to
the
Pharmaceutical
Society of
Australia (PSA)
website (sign in
box is in the
top right hand
of your
browser). Select
Pharmacy Self
Care from the
options down the
left hand side
of the screen
and follow the
links to the
section you wish
to use.
Complementary Medicines
Blackmores offer a number of free online learning
modules addressing a range of common ailments and herbal
and naturopathic preparations available for sale in many
pharmacies. Each module takes around 20 minutes to
complete and you receive a certificate for each one
completed. (Please ensure you include the certificates
for completed modules in your portfolio.)
To enrol visit the online
learning page at the Blackmore's website and
complete the
registration form.
You are expected to
complete three modules during
the course of the
year.
PRACTICE PORTFOLIOS
As soon as you
start in the
pharmacy you should
start work on your
practice portfolio. Take a number of
copies of the
Reflective Learning
Experience (RLE)
form and start
recording
experiences as you
go, and remember to
add any other
relevant
information.
Attached is an
example of how to
record a
Reflective Learning
Experience,
advice is shown in
bold blue. Remember
to try to keep your
RLE's short and
concise.
