ABOUT THE PHARMACY BOARD OF TASMANIA

The Pharmacy Board of Tasmania is established under the Pharmacists Registration Act 2001.

The Board has the following functions:

  • To administer the registration of pharmacists

  • To supervise the practice of pharmacists in Tasmania

  • To investigate complaints and, as necessary, undertake disciplinary action against registered pharmacists

  • To prosecute offences against the Act

  • To monitor the standard and provision of the services that pharmacists provide in this State

  • To monitor standards of pharmacy education and training

  • To advise the Minister for Health and Human Services on matters relating to the Act

The Board is a participant in the Council of Pharmacy Registering Authorities and shares information with the other Australian jurisdictions and New Zealand via this forum.

Membership of the Board

The Pharmacy Board consists of 5 pharmacists and 2 persons who are not pharmacists to represent the interests of consumers. All appointments are nominated by the Minister for Health and Human Services and appointed by the Governor.
